'Pity party' is another expression that I dislike.

Clint's comment ended up on the wrong post, so I've crudely moved it here myself. I tried to see how to move it in a cleaner way, but I didn't have any luck. I can't find how to see the html for the comment pages. I am going to look into this more closely later. I did find a good page showing how to use Peekaboo comments. I may experiment with that later, too. Anyway, here's what should have gone here:

Why is Pity Party linked to Woody Allen. Excuse me if I am dumb and am missing the reference!

I linked 'pity party' to Woody Allen because I think that his characters tend to be spastic and needy, lending themselves to an association with the disliked term. Don't take this as me not liking Woody Allen, because that is not the case. I considered linking 'pity party' to Jennifer Aniston. Her characters can be needy, too, but they usually gain strength over the course of the series or film. Also, I think that I associate her with the term because she used it in an interview discussing her break up with Brad. I like Jennifer Aniston, but it irritated me that she said 'pity party'. Eeyore was another choice, but he seems to be too refined to be associated with such a dull and tired term. I'm open to new ideas, though, and I might even edit the link if I'm impressed enough with someone's suggestion as to who best embodies 'pity party'.

I'm thinking of running as a candidate for the Pity Party in 2008.

I read the article about Jennifer Aniston while I was on an airplane. Air travel can make me resort to less civilized forms of entertainment, I guess. Someone else in my group had bought this magazine or tabloid (I didn’t even recognize the title of the publication and I certainly don’t remember the title now), and we read it together and talked as we flew to Milwaukee. I also got to see the best and worst dressed in Hollywood, read about how Reese Witherspoon thinks that Jessica Simpson is trashy and a poor role model, and find out which island to visit if I want to run into Paris Hilton.
