Last week…

We made french toast.

We got new chairs.
(But the slipcovers for the chairs were the wrong color, so we will have very puffy marshmallow chairs for a few more days while we w
ait for the new covers.)

The gas company dug up the yard.
(Hopefully, they didn’t kill the t
ree.)

And I tried to help open an Irish pub.
(But it’s delayed for another week.)

Postcards

Weekend before last, Ray and I visited upstate New York to attend his brother’s Air Force retirement ceremony. It was a good trip, worthy of several blog posts, but instead I will post two messages from old postcards that I saw on the trip.

From the Penny Postcard Arcade at the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse:

Dear Mrs. Ellis Just a bit of news, at 6:00 P.M. your corner house, Mrs. Kelso’s place was on fire. The whole upstairs is destroyed. All the furniture out on the lawn. Hope you are well. Thressa

Dear Bert – If you don’t see me Thursday night down to the hall, don’t be mad will you? because I don’t feel very good now and I guess by Thursday I will be about dead. I got a nice cold and all my bones ache. With love. Anna

Luckily, I wrote all of my postcards before getting stuck overnight in Newark while trying to fly home, or my tone might have been more like that of the postcard writers above.

I had to call the city attorney today, and the person who picked up the phone answered, "Shitty attorney's office." Really. Heeheehee...
